Hungary vs Northern Ireland

In the last qualifiers for the World Cup in Brazil, Hungarians had quite an amazing performances and came very close to getting the play-off ticket. Finally, earning seventeen points was only enough for the third position, behind Netherlands and Romania.

Now, they might be having even better chance, as neither of their group opponents is super strong force, with the team being drawn together with Greece, Finland, Romania, Northern Ireland and Faroe Islands. Having that in mind, their group isn’t that strong and at least third position could be a realistic target for them this time. Experienced midfielder Gera will be one of the team leaders, as he said that the team is now great mixture of experienced and young players, full of potential. Still, there are only eight players playing abroad, while the remaining roster consists of younger players from domestic league.

Northern Ireland didn’t have a positive role in neither previous qualifying stage, as the team of national coach O’Neal has earned seven points during the progress and that was it. However, they will try to build up on it once again, as the team does have some quality, with several players playing in England or Scotland.

Team leaders will be attacker Lafferty who previously played for Rangers and Sion, now Norwich, but also striker McKay from Inverness and midfielder Davis from Southampton. Even though qualification for the EURO is unrealistic target this time, everyone is aware that this two years should be used as a build up for the future, so the team could try to get impressive things for the World Cup qualifiers for 2018. For today’s game, they have major absences, as the visitors will be without winger Dallas from Brentford who got injured few hours after the invitation to the team. Liverpool’s defender McLoughlin is also injured, while defender Bruce will be sidelined after his wife gave birth to the first child.

Northern Ireland didn’t score in last four official matches.

Northern Ireland has no victory in last eight matches, getting only two draws in the progress.

Logical favorite is Hungary, who should be able to get an rather easy victory in front of their fans. They do have a group of good players and are playing way better at home than outside. Strong start is expected from them, as they don’t usually have a chance to end up in play-off battle after reaching the third position.
