Grasshoppers showed a great face last weekend when they easily outplayed third placed Young Boys with a heavy 5:0 defeat. The hosts entered the game in a best possible way scoring a goal in fourth minute by Gashi, but the deciding factor was in the middle of first halftime when the visitors stood with nine men playing following two red cards given to them.
Same player, Gashi, scored second goal from the penalty kick, while he proved to be man of the match with two more goals early in the second half, while Ngamukol sealed the victory with a goal in injury time for the final 5:0 score. After a shocking 0:5 defeat at home against Thun, they improved against Basel with a 1:1 derby draw and increased atmosphere to better one even more with a victory against Young Boys. Still, they are four points away from Basel and it’s hard to see them getting back to the race completely, even though the side surely won’t surrender as long as they have a chance. Midfielder Salatic (28/1) and striker Ben Khalifa (24/5) are injured and won’t perform tonight.

St Gallen, on the other side, continued with their poor form, for their fourth game in a row, as the team comes from a 0:3 home defeat against Basel. They were completely outplayed by the league leaders and didn’t have much of the chances to even score one goal.
As said, their current form is very poor, as the team didn’t win in last four matches, but even worse, didn’t score a single goal in these four matches. They are now seven points away from fourth placed team that gets the Europa League and surely that they realized playing in Europe will be impossible for them next season. Going to Grasshoppers without of much competitive motives won’t help them a lot either tonight. Midfielder Janjatovic (23/1) is doubtful and might not be risked, while the only real and sure absentee will be defender Montadon (19/2).
St Gallen is going from bad to worse and it’s hard to see them getting away with anything here, as Grasshoppers needs this victory badly in order to stay in a title race and I believe they will get it easier than expected.
