Gibraltar will make their historic performance tonight, as their football association struggled for fifteen years to get the position of regular UEFA member and start playing international games. From May 24th 2013, they have succeeded it and will now begin their first journey at the qualifications for Euro 2016.
At the same time, they are attempting to become a member of FIFA and take part of qualifying for the World Cup 2018 which will be held in Russia. They are the smallest member in population among the countries from UEFA and their roster is mainly consisted of players with amateur status, with only five of them playing abroad. In previous matches, they usually playing informal games, but have recently played five real matches against sides recognized by UEFA, in the most recent on in June, they have celebrated first victory 1:0 against Malta. Their targets are long term ones, as the team wants for now, just to look as professional as possible. At the same time, to gain some experience which could be important for next qualifying rounds.

Poland, on the other side, had a miserable qualifying path for the World Cup, as the team only managed to show their strength against weak Moldova and San Marino, in a group where they could get the second position easily. Now, they will try to get third consecutive qualification for the European championship.
Polish federation had in previous year a target to clean up the roster from older players and get the chance for younger generation to show what they are capable of. They have seven friendly matches during the time, getting three victories, two draws and two defeats in the progress. In the most recent one, they prevailed 2:1 against Lithuania, while the side kept clean sheet in four of these seven games. Team leader Blaszczykowski from Dortmund will not be participating in this one, same as left back and his team mate Piszcek and midfielder Kucharczyk from Legia Warsaw. Experienced midfielder Mila from Slask is once again in the national squad.
This will be a historical moment for Gibraltar, but even so, it seems unrealistic for them to get anything close to a positive result, as the quality difference is huge. Logically, Polish led by Lewandowski should not face any particular problem scoring probably more than couple of goals in the progress.
