After an undefeated run of twelve matches, which included eight victories, Vitesse suffered 0:2 defeat at home against AZ Alkmaar, staying without a scored goal for the first time this season. Visitors started the game well, took a 1:0 lead with an own goal in twentieth minute, while the second goal for them was scored just before the halftime, with another tragic mistake of home defensive duo.
Vitesse did reply with better performance in the second half, but without much of creativity, they remained for second halftime also without a goal scored.
