A unclad man was shot to death on Tuesday night by a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s sergeant after he attacked a former police officer and bit off part of a teenager’s face.
According to Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, the unclad man was walking down a road near Delray Beach, Florida when, for no apparent reason, he attacked the 66-year-old former NYPD officer who was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. After which he chased a man and his 10-year-old son near the entrance to a gated community. He later attacked and started fighting with an 18-year-old man, who he bit on the face. The teenager was said to have defended himself with a box cutter before the police intervened.
They tried to calm the man down, using a stun gun, but the man kept going and started charging at them. That’s when a sergeant fired three times, once to the torso and twice on the lower part of the body. The man was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he died.
The teenager was also taken to the hospital.
The sheriff said investigators are trying to figure out the man’s identity and to get some background information on about him.
