Kano Pillars have crashed out of the Orange Caf Champions League after failing to overturn a 3-1 deficit they suffered at AS Vita of DR Congo.
Pillars won Saturday’s return match 2-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, but lost out 4-3 on aggregate.
Etekiama Agiti gave visiting AS Vita a first minute lead, before Pillars fought back to draw level in the 66th minute through a header by Kabiru Umar.
Pillars then took the lead in the 70th minute courtesy of Abdul Haruna, but could not score another goal that would have at least taken the game to a penalty shootout.
The Nigerian champions crashed out to AC Leopards of Congo Brazzaville in the first round of the competition last year.
