Barca Beats Sociedad in Copa Del Rey Semi-Finals First-Leg.

Barcelona bounced back from Saturday’s shock 3-2 home defeat by Valencia to beat Real Sociedad 2-0 in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey at the Nou Camp on Wednesday.

Sergio Busquet tapped home the opener for the Catalan giants and a bizarre own-goal by Enaut Zubikarai helped the hosts double their lead and move closer to a classic finale against Real Madrid, who defeated Atletico Madrid 3-0 earlier in the day.

Lionel Messi went closest to getting Barca in the ascendancy early on, missing his kick in front of a deserted goal and hitting the bar with his free-kick.

Javier Mascherano was lucky to have escaped punishment for pulling Carlos Vela, much to the fury of the visitors- who would have been much contented with a penalty or a red card- but their temper boiled over when Inigo Martinez saw red for dissent.

Barca dominated the match hence forth and Sociedad would be relieved that the former’s second came off a goalmouth blunder.

Gorka Elustondo’s clearance was turned into his own goal by Zubikarai as Barcelona proceeds into next week’s second-leg with a two-goal advantage.
