4 Out of the Box Valentine’s Dates

article-20141310270337623000 If you are looking for a way to celebrate your love for your partner, without becoming a cliché, consider these out-of-the-box Valentine’s Day date ideas:

1. Go on a pseudo vacation. Always wanted to visit London as a couple? Been talking about touring South America together for years? Bring the best of those travel dreams home for the night. “Choose a country you both like, rent an iconic film from that country and cook a popular dish from that country together,” said Steinberg. The best part? No long flights.

2. Have a local adventure. Find an online or print listing of local events and activities, close your eyes and pick one. It takes the guesswork out of what to choose and has the potential to push you both outside your comfort zones – something that is always healthy in a relationship. You do not have to do something that is typically considered romantic to enjoy time with your Valentine.

3. Cook together. It has been said that the best food nourishes the soul – so find a way to reconnect through this most basic of tasks. Take a cooking class together and expand your palettes, or stay home and stick with the classics. “Make a delicious dessert together at home, like your favorite cupcakes,” said Steinberg. Throw on some sexy lingerie at home or make the meal unclad for some extra heat in the date.

4. Get pampered – together. Instead of spending your date budget on an overly-cheesy meal out, spend that money on an afternoon at the spa together. Get a couple’s massage, facials or spend a little time in the hot tub or sauna. You will both come back refreshed, and neither at the expense of the other.
