PSV vs AZ Alkmaar

PSV vs AZ Alkmaar betting tips

Even though they were quite competitive for the most of the game and have presented themselves in more than decent picture, PSV didn’t escape away from the defeat on the road with a 1:0 result in a derby game of previous round against Ajax. In the first half, it seemed like the visitors are playing better and being more dangerous than the rivals, but the repetition gave another picture.

Ajax went way stronger in the second half, soon enough have opened the scoreline and missed few more good opportunities to extend their lead. Coach Cocu was satisfied with the effort of his players, but has said that the opponent acted more clever as they took advantage of his players’ opportunities and it’s something they have lacked from the start of the season. Despite a poor season, coach Cocu has full support of club’s administration, even though they are excluded from Europa League and are only at eight position in the league at the moment. They are one of the youngest teams in the league and therefore, nobody expects great results, while the team’s target is to get back to winning ways now.

PSV has sold offensive player Toivonen (14/1) to Rennes and will surely miss him in next weeks, while the hosts also remain without midfielder Wijnaldum (6/4), while striker Matavz has recovered from injury and has returned to full training sessions.

AZ Alkmaar, on the other side, is coming from a 2:0 victory on the road against Roda last Tuesday, in a part of quarterfinal game of Dutch Cup. With this victory they have secured the spot in semifinals and will have a chance to play for the trophy in case they win the semifinal game against Ajax at home.

Roda started the match better and missed two good chances, while the visitors were fortunate to score via own goal, while the elimination of Roda’s player Nemeth turned the game completely to AZ Alkmaar’s favor and they easily completed the game scoring another goal. As for league, the team is coming from a 3:0 victory at home over Breda last weekend. With the restart of domestic competitions, there is no doubt that AZ plays way better and maybe most importantly, they have control from the first minutes in their games. Visitors will be without defender Marcellis who anyway didn’t play this season at all, while left back Poulsen isn’t ready for a debut. In general, visitors have no suspension or injury worries.

PSV Eindhoven have seen over 2.5 goals in their last eight matches against AZ Alkmaar.

PSV have left the game against Ajax with empty hands, but will be looking to bounce back now. They looked quite good and it seems that the break helped both teams to recover and improve their performances. Open game with lots of offensive phases is expected and it won’t be much of a surprise in case the visitors score more than a goal.
