Important Information For Job Seekers

Hello fellow Nairalanders,

I am Jide Olanrewaju, and i have been working on a project (www.jobler.me) for a year now. This project is aimed at helping people looking for jobs in Nigeria. Just like most people, the rate of unemployment in this country gives me a lot of concern. Many people are still looking for jobs more than 5 years after graduating.

The situation is not helped at all with the increasing rise of scammers. Some recruitment agencies are legit but they will ask you to pay money. How can they expect a fresh graduate to have money? Honestly, it is very tough being a job seeker.

While i was looking for a job, i observed that one of the major challenges a job seeker faces is that no one actually knows what you can do or rather, no one knows you exist. Also, the amount of corporate jobs in this country is far less than the amount of people seeking for them.

To counter this, i have created a skill database of everyone who aspires to get a job, change their current job, work part time, or as a freelancer. It caters for all levels of education: Graduates, undergraduates, non-graduates etc.

Anyone who wants anything done would just go there and search people based on skill. For instance, if i need a website, i could search for "website designer" and people who have that skill will be displayed.

This creates new opportunities for all kinds of events. If i need for instance an accountant for my company, or an actor for a new movie script, or i need to change my driver, i will just do a quick search and i will be presented with the best possible candidates for the positions.

For example below is a screenshot of my profile.

this is a link to my profile: http://ift.tt/1fEMM6m

my profile shows my photo, my name, my points, people who have recommended me and my SKILLS. The skills are actually the important part of the whole thing. Here, it is shown that i am a computer programmer skilled in PHP, JAVA, hadoop, map-reduce, big data etc.
