His Call Credit Was Deducted Under Airtel Opera Mini Data Plan

Few days back there was a thread which graced the front page of Nairaland,it was all about airtel and how they have realeased a new cheap operamini data plans.

You can check it out here.

i felt excited about these new offer so i decided to give it a try. I had about #24 left in my account (my airtel line is simply used to surf the net and nothing more) , so i topped up my account with #300,i then activated the 250MB monthly operamini plan,i recieved a message that it was a success, i checked my MB by dailing *885*0# which was 250MB to expire by feb. 14, 2014.

I browsed with it for some few minutes, was on Nairaland actually, it later stopped connecting. I checked my account, behold! My airtime of #24 was wiped out, checked my data bundle i had 246mb left. Meaning they took only 4mb from my 250mb data they gave me.

I tried surfing the net one more time,it won't connect. I was confused so i called their customer care, i waited for almost 15mins before they eventually picked. I told them what happened, the customer care agent said i can't use my data bundle unless i've atleast #1 in my account,i told him i had #24 in my account which they took instead of my data, after keeping me waiting for close to 2mins he finally replied that i'm in club 10 hommies and normally #25 is deducted as Sms charge every month for Club 10 paddies, this time around, i was totaly confused, I dont recieve any Club 10 hommies sms, i dont take part in any club 10 hommies chats and #25 has never been deducted from my account monthly,so what the fvck is the problem? He told me i'll have to load atleast #100 to use my data again, that they is nothing he can do about it, meanwhile he reassured me that when i load this time around my airtime won't be deducted when i'm surfing the net, well! I foolishly believed him,it's just #100 right? I said to myself.

I topped up my account with #100 airtime, the first message i recieved was "#0.50 has being deducted from your PayU account, use up to #39.50 more to get 10MB", i ignored the message. I tried browsing again, this time it connected, I browsed for like 20mins, i stopped to checked my account,to my surprise i was left with #90, i checked my data it was 240MB left, i was confused, foolish i was i decided to download a video which i did, after downloading, i checked my account balance, it was still #90. That was during the night.

The next morning, seeing that they didn't touch my airtime after downloading last night,i decided to download one more video, half way during download,it stopped "downloading failed" . I closed my operamini browser, checked my account and to my complete and utter surprise my airtime was wiped out meanwhile they took only 2.50MB from my data bundle angry .

Furious i was,i dailled 111, waited for about 9mins,i heard an angelic beautiful voice of a female customer care agent, "hello! How may we help u,ur name and where you are calling from? ", immediately i said "this is adams" they disconnected the call. I tried their number again, this time around it took them close to 20mins before they picked my call, a male agent picked this time,(his voice sounds familiar with the one i talked with yesterday) i told him everything, how i called yesterday and everything that happened, what he told me in return was "Mr. Adams, i can't hear u clearly, it seems the network is bad, pls do call again someother time, thanks for using airtel" he then hang up.

I was boiling with anger this time around,i dailed 111 again, almost 40mins, they refused to pick, i later ended the call myself, disappointed i was and i felt cheated.

They can eat their MB,i'll never fall for cheap scam like this ever again , my data bundle is still in my airtel line as i type this. 220MB just there for decoration, i can't use it.

It seems like they have found new ways of exploiting their customers, pls y'all should BEWARE!

remember this saying "NOT ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD"
