Manchester City Vs West Ham United

Match Preview

English Premier League

Venue: Etihad Stadium

Sunday 11th May 2014

Kick off time 16:00

Manchester City have the Premier League title in their hands. The Citizens need just one point from the last match of the season in order to lift the trophy, but West Ham will surely give their best to spoil the Citizens’ party at the Etihad Stadium.

Just few weeks ago Liverpool were on the right track to clinch their first ever Premier League title, but Chelsea’s win at Enfield Road revived Manchester City’s title hopes. The Citizens suddenly rose from the dead and following Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, Manuel Pellegrini’s men have destiny in their own hands.

Having crushed Aston Villa 4-0 on Tuesday night, one point from Sunday’s clash against West Ham United would see Manchester City lift their second Premier League trophy in three years.

Edin Dzeko once again proved his worth, the Bosnian striker scored a brace in the 4-0 victory over the Villans and he will lead the line for the league leaders against West Ham United.

However, I believe that the hosts will adopt a cautious approach in the ultimate battle and I would not be surprised if they keep yet another clean sheet.

Kun Aguero is a major doubt and the Argentine

forward will be assessed on the match day. Jesus Navas and Matija Nastasic both remain on the sidelines with injuries.

West Ham United were running down a blind alley in the first half of the season, but Sam Allardyce stayed at the club and it seems as if the club chiefs made a very good decision. The Hammers have been producing much better displays in the second half of the season and they have already secured yet another top flight survival.

The team’s form has been anything but impressive of late, but at the weekend Sam Allardyce’s men did remarkably well to record yet another win over their fierce local rivals

Tottenham.

Thanks to this triumph the capital club put

an end to their four-game losing run in the Premier League, but I am not sure if they are capable of shocking title-chasing Manchester City side at the Etihad Stadium in the last match of the season.

In their last away fixture West Ham United failed to find the net at the Hawthorns and I do not believe that the visitors will score against the Citizens as they do not have too much to play for.

Marco Borriello is likely to miss the Manchester City game with injury, but Sam Allardyce has no other fresh injury concerns. Andy Carroll will lead the line for the visitors.

Probable starting line-up

Man City (4-2-3-1): Hart –Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy – Javi Garcia, Yaya Toure– Milner, David Silva, Nasri – Dzeko.

Westham United (4-2-3-1): Adrian – Demel,

Tomkins, Reid, McCarthy – Noble, Taylor – Nolan,

Diame, Downing – Carroll.
